NEW YEAR: 5 RESOLUTIONS TO GET BACK IN SHAPE

Here are 5 sports resolutions that will motivate you |
Like
every new year, there are many good resolutions at the beginning of January...
Alas, the effects are not always felt quickly, so we sometimes give up along
the way... However, we are generally full of hope at the idea of doing sports
or losing weight, especially after the culinary orgy of the Christmas holidays,
but willpower is not enough... Here are 5 sports resolutions that will motivate
you all year long!
JOIN A GYM
Joining a
gym is a good way to motivate people because you are investing money and it
would be a shame to waste it. So, it makes you want to make a profit on your
membership, and so you go to the gym! Today, there are subscriptions at all
rates, do not hesitate to compare to find the offer that corresponds to your
needs but also to your schedule. For example, some gyms offer reduced rates if
you only go there for lunch, so if you plan to do your sports sessions on your
lunch break, ask around.
Another
piece of advice: if you are a beginner, choose a gym that offers group lessons
so that you can benefit from the advice of a qualified coach. You'll have to
set up a schedule and stick to it, and it turns out that when you're not doing
your sport alone, you're less likely to give up!
FIND THE SPORTS PROGRAM THAT SUITS YOU
If you don't
like the idea of going to the gym, don't panic, you can very well find your
sports routine elsewhere. You can select the program of your choice: muscle
strengthening, weight loss or wellness, there is something for every taste and
every need! 3 to 4 sessions of 30 minutes per week, adapted to your level and
evolving with you! What's more, there's no need to invest in a lot of sports
equipment, as these sessions generally only require a floor mat.
TAKE A DAILY BREATH OF FRESH AIR
In this new
year, it's important that you adopt new habits, good for your health! And one
of them is to walk at least 30 minutes a day, the equivalent of 10,000 steps on
average. However, it is important to know that in France, only 25% of us take
at least 9000 steps a day, which is not much...
And yet it's
very simple to set up: for short trips, forget the car; get off a bus, metro or
tram stop early to continue on foot, take the stairs rather than the lift or
escalators, go for a walk at lunchtime even if it's for shopping... In short,
walk as soon as you can!
And if you
like running, why not take the reflex to go running at least once a week? It
turns out that jogging is the best antidepressant there is. Indeed, running not
only does good for your body, but also helps you to gain control over yourself
and fight anxiety.
BETTING ON SPORT TO STOP SMOKING
THE good
resolution of the year is to quit smoking. Easier said than done, you say?
Well, you should know that physical activity can help you do it!
First of
all, having a sporting goal is an excellent motivation to quit smoking.
Quitting smoking will in fact improve physical condition and thus make it
easier to reach performance goals, for example. Secondly, regular physical
activity of any kind helps combat addiction, cravings, stress or the desire to
smoke.
Finally,
another beneficial effect of physical activity for people wishing to quit
smoking is better weight control. Indeed, the fear of weight gain is a brake
for many smokers wishing to quit. However, by practicing a sport, this weight
gain can be controlled.
STOPPING PROCESSED SUGARS
Did you know
that? Since 1990, each French person has consumed an average of 35kg of sugar
per year! That's huge...and very bad for your health (and your figure!). How
about challenging yourself to stop using processed sugar? It's a real challenge
but here are some tips that can help you achieve it:
Stop buying
industrial products containing more than 5 ingredients, especially when they're
called glucose, fructose syrup, dextrin, starches... All of these are sugar in
the worst form there is, they're industrial sugars that are not natural, so
just skip it!
We prefer
natural foods as much as possible and for that, it is essential to start
cooking again (here is another good resolution!). If you like sweet things, you
can make your own desserts and pastries!
You always
have a small, healthy, homemade snack with you to make up for an unexpected
snack: a handful of almonds and a piece of seasonal fruit will be ideal to stop
the sugar between meals.
We try to
replace one or two sweet breakfasts a week with salty breakfasts. In fact, by
starting the day with sugar, our body quickly asks us for more during the
day... And that's where the vicious circle of sugar comes in.
