LET GO WITH AERIAL YOGA - Yoga Air

Discipline within everyone's reach, aerial yoga, also called fly yoga, allows to develop a different consciousness of the body in space, freed from the effects of gravity, and thus allows the body and mind to let go completely. We tell you more about this new practice that is causing a sensation among yoguists.

WHAT IS AERIAL YOGA - YOGA AIR?

Created in 2009 by Florie Ravinet, the fly yoga method is a discipline that subtly mixes traditional yoga, modern yoga and pilates and is practiced in small groups in a yoga studio.

Suspended in a hammock that hugs the shape of the body, it is part of a process of reconnecting to oneself through movement, above the ground. As resistant as it is enveloping, the hammock allows you to gain height without risk, to perform acrobatic postures and to defy the laws of gravity, from the very first session, whether you are a beginner or an experienced yoga practitioner.

WHAT DOES A FLY YOGA SESSION LOOK LIKE?

If you wish to perform traditional yoga postures defying the laws of gravity, this class is for you. Here is an example of a typical fly yoga session:

In your hammock, you begin the session with a time of concentration, also called "dharana", with meditation and breathing exercises. During this phase of connecting your body to your mind, you will be wrapped in your cocoon, relieved of the weight of your body and your mind will begin to calm down.
You will then warm up your joints and muscles to awaken your body, before performing the various traditional yoga postures from your hammock.

In a third step, come the inversions (upside down) in complete safety, which will come to work your whole body.
Finally, each session ends with a deep relaxation, during which you wrap yourself in the fabric of your hammock.
At the end of these 60 minutes in a hammock suspended from the ceiling, to let yourself go away from the tumult of your thoughts, you will feel really comforted and full of pep for the rest of your day, and even the rest of your week.

THE BENEFITS OF AERIAL YOGA

THE BENEFITS OF AERIAL YOGA

It is well known that yoga is an ideal sport to do good to your body gently and deeply. Aerial yoga, too, allows work on several aspects:

- Biomechanics: It relieves back and neck pain by relieving joint stress and decompressing the spine.

- Muscular: thanks to the hammock, you are in permanent instability, which leads to a real work of the deep muscles and thus leads to a muscular reinforcement of the whole body: Abdominal strap, back, shoulders, lower body, everything goes there!

- Mental: from the first class of aerial yoga, you will have an immediate feeling of well-being and physical and mental lightness. This type of practice allows you to escape but not only. Indeed, by practicing aerial yoga, you generally go out of your comfort zone by learning to trust, to exceed your limits and your fear of gravity, in particular. You will come out of fly yoga with a light mind!
